Resolution Explained
A 'Pixel' is another name for a dot. Lots of pixels make up the digital picture captured on a digital camera. Different digital cameras can record different amounts of pixels in a picture. The more pixels that a camera can record the more information there is in the picture and so therefore the better the quality of the image will be. To be able to print good quality large images you will need a camera with a large number of pixels. Basic cameras have less than 1 million pixels and trying to produce large pictures will result in poor picture quality. So if you are looking to produce good quality images at greater than 6"x4" then you will need a camera with at least 2 million pixels. There are now cameras available that record over 8 million pixels in a single picture so make sure you get a digital camera with a large number of pixels.

While it is possible to print any size of picture from a digital file to retain good
print quality we strongly suggest using the information above as a guide to print
sizes. The Foto Factory dighital print software will inform you if the print size
being ordered will not produce a good quality print. |
